This study plans to learn more about how factors like the ability to be flexible in thinking and decision making, the ability to manage strong emotions, and other coping skills impact recovery from trauma and the development of posttraumatic stress symptoms. This study is being conducted by Dr. Kristin Samuelson at UCCS.
First, we will ask you to fill out several online assessments assessing your mental health, coping skills, and personality, which are expected to take between 1 and 1.5 hours to complete. Afterward, you will be asked to complete several tests assessing your memory, learning, and attention followed by an interview about your trauma history and how you are feeling now. The testing and interview would take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete.
The entire study will last between 3 and 4 hours.
To participate you must:
• Be between 18 and 65 years old
• Be able to read, speak, and comprehend English
• Have been exposed to a traumatic event
