I lost my apartment in March (Terminated lease - No Eviction) after being tasked with automating my work position for a local business and being let go the very day I finished (after being told I was performing better than previous workers in my position).
As much as I enjoy the freedom of being in my car, I have a border collie, Poe.
Now, Poe LOVES the opportunity to wake up and go play ball in fields all over, but I can't get a new job without having a safe place Poe can be during a shift and with an expired registration and lapsed insurance, I'm really concerned about the longevity of our sleeping situation (my backseat) as my car could legally be impounded at any moment.
So I'm in a difficult to navigate, chicken-or-the-egg, scenario. I have to get work to get a new apartment, and I have to have a place for Poe while I'm working.
I've been developing a website/SAAS business that could grant Poe and I the ability to travel abroad (ideally) but I'm concerned that steady payout from that may be too far removed from my current position to make sense without a cash job serving tables or something somewhere to get us back in a safe rhythm.
Normally, I would reach out to family in this situation, but they've all essentially abandoned me due to my lack of appreciation for their political beliefs.
I have unemployment coming in and SNAP benefits for food.
I was thinking I could use the unemployment to board Poe while I work shifts, but I'm checking with the internet to see if anyone has a safe, communal place in need of a renter that could help us to feel more secure than the uncertain, impoundable backseat of my Honda.
If I could rent a room, I can pay weekly from current income, with higher rent once I’m working locally again.
Any work-stay opportunities or ideas on organizations I could reach out to would be much appreciated.
