In residential design, I work extensively with wood-frame structures, designing foundations, floor and roof systems, shear walls, moment frames, and lateral-force resisting systems that meet seismic and wind requirements. My portfolio includes new homes, additions, second-story conversions, garage conversions (ADUs), and multifamily complexes requiring advanced load-path coordination and diaphragm design.
For commercial and mixed-use buildings, I design structural systems using wood, light-gauge steel, structural steel, and reinforced concrete. My experience includes tenant improvements, restaurant and retail build-outs, office-space framing modifications, and retrofit upgrades for existing commercial structures. I frequently address challenges such as open floor plans, long-span beams, parapet bracing, equipment loads, and code-compliant accessibility and fire-life safety modifications.
I handle the full spectrum of structural engineering responsibilities, including gravity and lateral load analysis, modeling, detailing, and developing complete structural drawing sets and calculation packages for permitting. My work also involves coordinating closely with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and building officials to resolve design conflicts, respond to plan-check comments, and support construction through RFIs, site visits, and field verification.
