I currently run a small exotic animal rescue and sanctuary through an area of my house. I am also licensing with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to be a Wildlife Rehabber for Small Mammals (that is in a different section of the house they are separated per regulations) I have a very small team also getting licensed. We are a state registered nonprofit and are applying for our 501c3 federal tax deductible status. We have recently taken in quite a few exotics who will be permanent residents and are offering volunteer opportunities to come work with the animals. Currently we care for 4 cats (one whom may be part bengal), 2 ferrets, 4 sugar gliders, 2 chinchillas, 1 ball python, 1 milk snake, 1 cockatiel and 10 rats. We also pay to house and care for a wolfdog staying at larger property. Volunteering would include training, a lot of cleaning duties, but also some enrichment and training sessions with our residents. We plan to use them for education and outreach to schools and as they are all rescues could use some extra attention and see if that is something they would be up for. This is not a position where you will have any interaction with wildlife or the wildlife rehab part of the facility. We are in search of a more permanent member to get licensed for wildlife but this would require a big commitment because of the process is takes to be licensed. No, none of our current animals are available for adoption. Most animals we are asked to take in we are asked to provide lifelong care to and not adopt out, especially those with behavioral issues. On occasions when we do have rescues for adoption we will post it. Children welcome. If you are looking into getting an exotic pet this is a great way to get to know what kind of care is involved hands on and how they behave. Its also helping in making sure that you are not allergic to an animal prior to adoption. Please email with any questions. We are NOT a petting zoo, and none of our animals are overly friendly at this point, so if you are looking to cuddle exotics this is not the place for you.
