75-year-old disabled vet and my special-needs companion are making our 10th move in 11 years. This time, I'm hoping to find an adequately insulated place where the wind isn't whistling through the electrical outlets, floor coverings are thick enough to keep the carbon monoxide from seeping into the room while I sleep, and the midday temperature doesn't reach the 80s and stay there 'til midnight. This time, I would like doors wide enough that I can drive my ride from the parking lot to the refrigerator without smacking into anything or being a nuisance to anyone else. This time, I would like to sign a lease that is in compliance with federal and state disability laws, as well as service dog regs; and I would like those disability rights to be respected, non-negotiable, and not treated like a corporate benefit to be doled out by managerial whim. This time, I'd like a management team that is more interested in the quality of life they provide their residents, instead of how much they can collect in fines and fees; and one that resolves resident disputes by facts instead of favoritism. I've never been served eviction papers or left an unpaid bill. Hints and offers would be greatly appreciated (not Belcaro, thanks). We move in mid-June.
