A trauma informed writing space for those who have served, are serving, or are preparing to serve. This workshop is designed with emotional safety, choice, and control at its center, honoring the reality that many veterans and service members carry memories the world does not always make room for. No writing experience is required, just a willingness to show up and explore your own story on your own terms.
About the Workshop
This workshop is built for veterans and active service members who want to use writing as a tool for reflection, grounding, and expression. Together, we will read short, powerful pieces by veteran and civilian writers and use guided prompts to generate our own work. You are welcome here whether you have been writing for years or have never written outside a school assignment.
What genres? We will be working in the creative non fiction genre only (personal essays, memoir, poetry, or a combination of these).
This workshop is meant for you to write about your personal experiences.
Who This Workshop Is For

• A veteran of any branch or era
• Currently serving in the military or reserves

About the Facilitator
I am a multi genre author, editor, and writing instructor based in Colorado. I work with veterans and service members and have also worked with unhoused individuals and displaced youth living with mental health challenges, offering trauma informed writing spaces built around care, choice, and voice. My teaching is informed by respect for lived experience and a deep belief that everyone has a story worth telling on their own terms.
I am the author of three books and I teach writing at the university level and in community settings, emphasizing access, care, and experimentation on the page.
