The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department-Fleet Division is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Fleet Mechanic. Individuals in this position are responsible for performing maintenance and skilled repairs on equipment ranging from small utility equipment and passenger vehicles to transit buses and heavy equipment (loaders/graders) as well as shop equipment. The incumbent also fabricates and welds custom projects, processes work orders, and conducts parts ordering and vendor communications using a state of the art asset management software system. Minimum of one year of experience in the repair and maintenance of motorized vehicles and mechanical equipment.
High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING
Successful applicants are required to meet the DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, pass a pre-employment drug screen; have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record, pass a drug and alcohol release from previous employers (if applicable), and complete a background check and reference check.
The incumbent may also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing requirements. This position is considered safety sensitive (per DOT regulations).
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle report.
Valid CDL with Class B, P2 Endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days. (Town of Breckenridge may provide training and testing.)
Valid Federal Motor Carriers (FMCSR) Medical Examiners Certificate or ability to obtain within 60 days.
Evidence of continued advancement in technical knowledge and skills.
Qualified Annual Vehicle Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Underground Storage Tank Operator Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment or as required to meet the organizations need.
Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Certification section 608 and 609 or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment or as required to meet organizational needs.
Anticipated schedule generally consists of four 10hr, daytime shifts. Generally the summer seasonal operational schedule consists of weekdays only and winter seasonal operational schedule requires one (1) weekend day shift. Individuals in this position may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed including, days, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, extended shifts, and overtime as needed due to urgent priorities or as scheduled.
