My son was diagnosed with mild autism this past summer. He's 14 now, and has struggled with school since the second grade. Everything about him and his personality quirks finally make sense to me now. There has always been something about him that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I've been aware of differences between him and other kids, and always felt the need to protect him. I just thought he was more of a loner kid. Although it's mild, as he is high functioning, I am still in shock, I guess from the news. Math is extremely hard for him, he's 3 years behind in his reading level. I could go on, but thinking about it breaks my heart. It was so subtle, but when his therapist tested him and we knew what to look for, you could see it so plainly. I've been so angry, because all of these years have been wasted. So much time has gone by, and we could have been getting him help. I'm full of guilt, like I did something to cause this. He's on an IEP and has been for years, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. He isn't progressing well. Even though we have school meetings to review his IEP, I don't think his teachers are equipped to handle his special needs. I'm so frustrated!! He hates to read, I can't find anything that peaks his interest, he doesn't like sports. He likes to build things and play video games but he can't just sit for hours playing games. It's just not good for him, or any child for that matter. He draws very well! His attention to detail is awesome, but he doesn't seem to be interested in it, other than an occasional activity. I just wish someone could tell me WHY. Maybe there is no answer. I look at him, and want to keep him with me forever, so I can protect him. But I know that isn't rational. I'm terrified of what will happen to him as he gets older. He doesn't like school anymore, and one day I think he'll just give up and quit school altogether. It's as if his autism is crippling me; affecting me more negatively than him. He seems to be okay with himself, it's just me who isn't coping with this very well. I just want what's best for him. I want him to be able to function in this world. I want to stop crying when my mind is pre-occupied with what his world is like and will be like in the future. Any information would be appreciated. I have read the books, also. Thanks for taking the time to read. Merry Christmas to everyone!

What is Sacred Harp singing?
Sacred Harp is a uniquely American tradition that brings communities together to sing four-part hymns and anthems. It is a proudly inclusive and democratic part of our shared cultural heritage.
Participants are not concerned with re-creating or re-enacting historical events. Our tradition is a living, breathing, ongoing practice passed directly to us by generations of singers, many gone on before and many still living.
All events welcome beginners and newcomers, with no musical experience or religious affiliation required � in fact, the tradition was born from colonial "singing schools" whose purpose was to teach beginners to sing and our methods continue to reflect this goal. Though Sacred Harp is not affiliated with any denomination, it is a deeply spiritual experience for all involved, and functions as a religious observance for many singers.
Sacred Harp "singings" are not performances. There are no rehearsals and no separate seats for an audience. Every singing is a unique and self-sufficient event with a different group of assembled participants. The singers sit in a hollow square formation with one voice part on each side, all facing inwards so we can see and hear each other. However, visitors are always welcome to sit anywhere in the room and participate as listeners.

Why is it called "Sacred Harp"?
Technically, our style of singing is "shape note singing" because the musical notation uses note heads in 4 distinct shapes to aid in sight-reading, but it is often called "Sacred Harp" singing because the books that most singers use today are called "The Sacred Harp," with the most prominent of these being the 1991 Denson edition. The term "sacred harp" refers to the human voice � that is, the musical instrument you were given at birth.

Reformed Congregational House Church (un-incorporated) (Colorado Springs)

We are a small congregation of ten adults and nine children, but would welcome a few newcomers. It would also be nice to meet up with some other small church groups to share ideas and activities. We meet weekly for Bible study, singing, prayer, and the Lord's Supper (not necessarily taken weekly). Most of us hold infant baptism, as applied by the head of household, to be normative for the Covenant family, while baptism by profession is normal for adult converts, but are not dogmatic on the issue.

In doctrine, we subscribe to the "5 solas" of the Reformation. We hold that the 66 books of Scripture are the sole source of Redemptive Revelation (that is, the Gospel message of substitutionary atonement). We also believe that Nature has revealed sufficiently the Moral Law by which men and women stand condemned already.

In study, we approach the discipline of Biblical Theology from a literary view (see, for example, Tremper Longman's A Literary Approach to the Bible, considering context, genre, structure, and Biblical precedent as key to meaning and author intent) and hold that the Scripture is the only and sufficient source of Redemptive Revelation to mankind, inerrant in the original manuscripts and adequately and substantially preserved for our study today. Be fore-warned that we are folks with a long attention span and we believe that YHWH has revealed Himself to rational creatures through the Logos of rational communication first that we may interpret the world aright from transformed minds to our responsive actions.

If you want to change your financial situation, health, or know someone that need to make these changes this group is for you. We will have an introduction period for each person to introduce themselves, also each person will receive a raffle ticket. We will also provide finger food and drinks for all attendees. We will have product training and recruiting training/stategizing. Afterwards we will have product sampling, so each individual can see the effectiveness of each product. A business opportunity will be presented and product opportunity will be provided also at this time. Lastly question and answer session will be given, prizes awarded for raffle ticket, and a determination of the next location for the next meeting.
