The event is brand new to Colorado Springs; a spin-off of the popular Colorado Chocolate Festival held every Mother's Day weekend at the Denver Merchandise Mart. That event draws thousands of people, and won Westword's "Best Food Fair" award earlier this year.
"People love chocolate," says Dana Cain, organizer of both chocolate festivals. "Once I got the idea in my head to bring our chocolate festival to the Broadmoor, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Great chocolate and the Broadmoor just seem like a match made in Heaven!"
The Holiday Chocolate Festival at the Broadmoor also includes special guests, a live truffle making demo, a truffle competition, and wine tasting. Teresa Farney, food editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette, will judge the truffle competition at 2pm. Julie Pech, "the Chocolate Therapist" will present a chocolate and wine pairing class during the wine tasting 4-6 pm. And Chef Trusan of Trusan Cuisines will offer a truffle making demo at noon.
